I hereby declare that MY BLOG IS A FAILURE.
There, I can finally stop stressing over my traffic.

I do things in an obsessive way.
It's either I watch anime like crazy, or play some game like crazy, or train squash like crazy, or study like crazy, or blog like crazy.
I have a one-track mind and the phrase "with moderation" doesn't exist in my dictionary.
By convincing myself that it's a failure, I abandon all ambitions I harbor for this blog and thus relieve myself of undue stress.
This blog shall resign itself to be a very humble one (in terms of traffic) and I shall make do with whatever peanuts I'm earning from advertisements.
Without blog promotion, the good news is...I HAVE MORE TIME TO BLOG!
And the bad news is...I HAVE LESS MOTIVATION TO BLOG!
But I think I love writing enough to blog on a regular basis.
Usually what stops me from blogging is the fear of boring people to death, but now that it's not a problem anymore (since few living things will be left to read my blog without blog promotion)...I can rant until I get a nosebleed.
p.s, I actually published the Premarital Sex post this morning but I took it down 3 minutes later for further amendments. Sorry to The Bad Blogger, your comment was auto-deleted because of that :(

What's a failed blog?
One that does not get much traffic? Or one that nobody wants to read?
I think that the latter would be a much more suited answer.
I think that it's good to set achievements and ambitions but IMO, if one is not ready to fail one is not ready to set goals.
Failing is demotivating, the feeling of failure is something that we never want to feel, being unable to do a thing while we fall down is awful.
But being afraid of doing anything because of the fear of failure is worst.
Anyway, this is much more a lesson to life than anything else :P
I just blog for fun and to share my hobby with possible newcomers and hobbyists. I never really worried about advertising my blog, never really worried about how many people would read it...ok, it's a lie, I worried about it at first but then I realized it was too much of a hassle to worry about all these. After all, I'm doing it just for the fun so why make it stressful or even worry so much about it?
That's my blogging history.
If you're on the same boat as me, why not take it easy? Keep blogging for the fun of it and don't stress so much. :)
A failure blog is one that no one wants to read. You know yours is not like that. I want to read it and I know that I'm not the only one either. :D

I only blog for myself and therefore don't obsess (too much) about the traffic I get. If I get comments I'm pleased of course. But for the most part it's a diary of sorts.
Plus, worrying never makes anything better.
And I don't think your blog is boring. :)

hey girl, i think u should go back to the original intent of ur blogging. if the simple act of writing online makes u happy, u should continue that and ur success will be measured by ur happiness. if it is traffic, u'd have to do other stuff.
however if u measure ur own success only by both writing for happiness and traffic, u'll juz have to persevere. i'm sure one day ur blog will grow its fan base once more people appreciate n spread by word of mouth.
well, at least ur title managed to bring in traffic...Anyway, I don't think any blog is a failure as long as you start it with the right intention. If the intention is to gain lots of traffic, whether these people care about what you write or not and blog to fit what these people wants to read then really, what's the point of blogging?
I was once like you, trying to gain traffics and stressed over it but eventually, I realised it doesn't really matter that much, even if I don't earn much from ads because it wasn't my initial reason of starting a blog. As long as I enjoy writing, I will write.

Yeah, like they said, blog isn't about traffic only, there are more beneath it.
I think you will have a better blog when you stop putting your energies into your traffic numbers. I've done that and I find that the pressure is off and the writing is better. Concentrate on quality not quantity and the rest will take care of itself. It's taken me a whole year to get 75 followers while other blogs have hundreds--whatever. I do it for me.

hey, don't give up yet, what u need is a lil bit of time to relax and stop thinking bout your blog, then u'll get back on track. But hey, never imagine you would be nang this much eh? I think this is one successful blog/post.
If I may, I will tell you that you're never failed. You are very young yet. As I see in your file, starting in January, only got 5 months and 24 followers.El already got mine, it started in November 2007, and has only 16 followers. But I'm happy. Gradually I will learn and because I like to spend time, not more. I have no purpose.

seems to me you are doing ok. :) 19 comments on this post is pretty good actually. haha I also stress about traffic and I don't know why. I stopped checking it though and now it doesn't bother me. If I don't know then I can't care right? haha
If your blog is a failure than my blog is a massacre. Relax, Shu Fen, I don't know you, but I do know that you write well and most importantly they keep me engaged. That's not a sign of failure at all. Keep it up. Its not wrong to do things "like crazy". Just shows how much passion you put into to the things you do.

Just look at the number of comments you have! I'm worst than you lor...
I have little traffic too,but don't be bothered by it! Blog when you feel like it,share when you want to. Don't feel indebted to blog because you need to gain traffic. That is not what blog is about!
just be natural and do not force promote, traffic will come naturally if its interesting enough

In fact it's ironic because I'm not really bothered by my traffic now, so why would I be vying for attention...
This post was to convince myself to stop stressing over traffic and act as a form of "closure" and turning point for this blog (with regards to my attitude towards it).

I was like you at one point. i blogged for traffic. But then it pressured me. And I thought to myself. . This is not why i started blogging. . . . and from there. yupp. More people started reading cause it's true honest and straight from the heart :)
and if you love writing, you will never give up . . trust me.
I know totally how you feel. I never can do things halfway either, which unfortunately leads me to trying out a new thing and quickly being burnt out on it.
So I guess my advice is to try to cool it, stop worrying and enjoy it so you don't eventually tire of doing it. :)

I used to have a post everyday but these days it's getting lesser and lesser ...
blog and blog the way you want to.
If you really want to make money with it, then work towards it.
If you think you will make enough money to quit your job, then write something useful for your audience. Not everyone, including me, have the time to read your rants at life and things, like most other bloggers in Malaysia who blogs for fun.
Otherwise, live with the small money you're earning now and get a life :)
