The Plastic Surgery Temptation

Last Saturday I had the opportunity to attend a talk about Plastic Surgery by a Korean maxillofacial (specialist in the face, head, neck region) surgeon Dr Moon Hyoung Jin and Dr Low Chai Ling!

Dr Moon who has transformed faces of thousands of Koreans, including celebrities!

Dr Low who is the founder and Medical Director of The Sloane Clinic.

Haha Esther and I went together! Haven't seen her in like 3 years! XD

I felt quite under dressed cos lots of female bloggers were like wearing little black prom dresses or something there with full makeup...

as opposed to my long Tee and leggings... X_X

*** mental note to self: Dress up for blogger events!! ***

.
.
.

Candids of Dr Moon being interviewed before the talk.

I think it is really easy to tell he's Korean! He's got The-Korean-Look. And I wonder what that is...

As I was quite curious about how acceptable plastic surgery really is for Koreans, I asked Dr Moon whether he did plastic surgery for his wife!!!

And....

DO YOU KNOW THAT HE DID FILLERS AND EYE SURGERY FOR HIS WIFE?

He also voluntarily did double eyelid surgery for his daughter!!

According to him, it is very common for parents to let their children "have their face done" for their birthday present or something...

I wonder how that works...

Dad: Hey darling! What would you like for your 17th birthday? How about a little nose augmentation? Since yours is a little flat........ *thinks to himself: I wonder who you resemble... (both Mum and Dad have tall chiseled plastic noses...)*

Daughter: Oooh Daddy!! Can I have a nose job AND some silicon for my boobies? XXX girl in my class got hers in a G cup!!!!!!! Mine is only a frikking D?!?!?!?! I KNEW I should have made them bigger the LAST time.

Ok random photo of the sound guy.

At this point of time I was bored and went out to explore....and was greeted by...........

GLORIOUS CAKES !!!

BUAHAHAHAHA! Jealous?

Notice the half eaten brownie....I couldn't resist stuffing my mouth with the brownie 1st before taking the photo LOL.

Oh My God la, a collection of teas, coffees of all types!

Sandwiches!

The person from Q-MED telling us about Restylane which is used in fillers.

Restylane!

Restylane is actually this clear gel like substance which is made of minimally modified Hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid is something that our body naturally produces but its production is decreased  as we age so our faces start to lose volume, sag and lines and wrinkles appear.

We can help our bodies by putting some fillers with Restylane in "fill it up" and lines and wrinkles will disappear instantaneously!

Fillers can be used underneath the eyes to get rid of eyebags, give you fuller lips, higher cheeks .etc and can last for 1 year or more.

They are the getting increasingly popular due to:

1. Instant results
2. No downtime, can resume normal lives immediately.
3. Quick procedure about 30 minutes or so.

During Dr Moon's talk, he shared with us some staggering results from a survey of 232 Korean women.

98.5% (almost everyone?!) of women, aged 20 to 30 years, desire to have cosmetic surgery.

58.2% already have undergone cosmetic surgery. (more than 1/2 have done plastic surgery?!)

On reflection, this statistics is actually not all that surprising...

The popularity of non-invasive cosmetic surgeries like fillers and botox is probably the reason why cosmetic surgery are getting more acceptable and less taboo nowadays.

Of course, Dawn Yang type full face overhaul plastic surgery is still taboo.

But with Xiaxue regularly parading around her new fillers .etc, it's no wonder most of us are increasingly tempted to jump ship to the pro-cosmetic surgery 5 star cruise.

I mean even I, who is like vehemently against plastic surgery can't promise that I will definitely not go for these non-invasive treatments in the future.

Honestly, I'm tempted.    Haha!

Seriously, look at this if you still aren't tempted!

Left - before picture. Right - after fillers underneath eye and on cheeks. Eyebags gone! Cheeks no longer sunken!

I have no idea what they did to her, but her weird looking forehead looks LOADS BETTER.

.
.
.

After all the presentations, we finally reached the HIGHLIGHT of the event!

We get to see how fillers are done!

Our "subject" of the day.

Prepping the face.

All set!

Dr Low, explaining to us the procedure.

Drawing guidelines on the face.

Facial art completed.

Numbing the face for filler injection with.................FROZEN PEAS! hahaha!

Start of ouch feeling...

Dr Low in deep concentration...

Assistants bustling about in the background.

1 side of the face done! Numbing the other side of the face for filler injection...

2nd ouch time....

:/

She is really quite poor thing...there were like 5 of us with big DSLRS trying to see who can snap the best photo of her WRINKLES. X_X

Man with huge ass camera snapping away.

This is where the OUCH really comes in....look at her face and mouth...she's cringing...

All done!

One last candid shot of the assistant haha!

That was the end of the event but we also got to "packet" the sandwiches and cakes back home! ~~~  BUAHAHAHA!

If you are interested in beautifying yourself, you can go to The Sloane Clinic!

I Made It To MENSA

Guess what arrived in the mail a few days ago?

My Mensa test result!

And....
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Miraculously I passed!!!

Top 1% some more lol... I kinda took it as some sort of affirmation of myself (if i pass, that's it) because I was feeling exceedingly lousy about myself.

.......

But weirdly, despite this "honour"...I don't feel particularly intelligent.

I'm sure my Maths tutor will fight to the bitter end if it was to dispute my level of intelligence.

Enraged Maths tutor:  "NO ONE SHOULD BE IN MENSA AND STILL GET 2/10 FOR THEIR MATHS MIDTERM TEST!!!!!!!!! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!! *%)#(#*@*(@*&;#)!)!(#$!&;!*!................... "

lols.
