What a fine country Singapore is!

I finally experienced what it means for Singapore to be a "fine" country today...

There is this bakery within Yishun MRT control station, literally 5 metres from where you tap your EZ-link, from which I often buy a coffee butter bread to eat for breakfast just before I board the train.

It has been a habit for me to buy my bread, sit down on the stone benches beside the control station and chomp on my bread before resuming my journey towards wherever.

Today was the same, innocent me clutching a guitar, eating my bread...but little did I know, what I had been doing all along was very very very very very very WRONG. Out of nowhere, this guy in his twenties materialized in front of me and the half-eaten bread in my mouth, and pointed at me "You are not supposed to eat here, if you continue to eat here I will report you and fine $500!"

I couldn't remember exactly what he was wearing cus I was too busy maintaining an incredulous look on my face, but I get the overall impression that he was dressed rather geek-ily...you know high-waisted pants and all. Maybe I was being biased cus I was being accused and all, but I would definitely plop him under my "Weird people" category just based on his appearance.

Now, I was going to put in a word for myself but nothing came through mouthfuls of coffee-flavoured flour. Instead I ran off to somewhere else, humbled and defeated, to finish the rest of my interrupted meal.

When I was done, I rubbed away the crumbs on the edges of my mouth and marched back into the control station....and I saw it !!!

There was indeed a "No eating or drinking" sign.

Now it leaves us the question as to why there is a bakery and bubble tea shop in a "No eating or drinking" area?

I'm so extremely sorry that I assumed  I was allowed to eat the bread I bought and paid for within 5 metres from where I bought it.

Next time I'll remember to buy my lil coffee bread from the bakery inside the control station, and scoot off to some place beyond the boundaries of the control station to eat it and come running back when I'm done.

What the hell?

Oshaberi Kai !

Last Saturday I went for this event organized by Japanese teachers from NUS, called Oshaberi Kai. Literally meaning "Talking Meet".

Many Japanese people living in Singapore were invited to talk to us, students studying Japanese! It was a day of non-stop talking in Japanese. =D

This is them in Singapore Botanic Gardens, getting ready to set off for the Treasure Hunt.

I was not there because I'm a directional loser and so at that time I was still busy losing my way there. :(

Shall never trust GoThere.sg ever again!

It told me to take a bus to some place and walk 10 mins from there...but it turns out that there was no way to walk to Botanic Gardens from there! I kept ending up at dead ends in a private housing estate area which was the direction the toot website told me to walk in. Grawr!

By the time I reached, they were back from the Treasure Hunt and were giving out prizes ~

Can you guess who are Japanese?

After that, it was time for the main event - picnic!

Preparing the picnic mats and food ~

I was busy eating and didn't notice the camera until it was too late.. =/

It is actually rather easy to tell whether females are Japanese...just look at the way they sit!

I have no idea how they do it, I find it rather uncomfortable. : /

I realized that Japanese really love sweet stuff!

Not like cakes or chocolate that kind but food in general. There was this Japanese who offered us her homemade food, which were what seemed like small fishes in a dark brown sauce and brown beans the size of 50 cent coins.

I took a bite into both...and both were SWEEET!!! I love sweet stuff like chocolates and sweets, but real food marinated in sweet sauce? Not really~ :/

Then the Japanese couple I was talking to closed their eyes as if to savour the taste and squealed "Oishii"(delicious)!

And they thought that Rojak was very spicy lol~

The organisers ending the speech in Japanese! ~

Thank you for organizing this event! :)

The Love Paradox

Boy: If you want me to come, I will come. Do you want me to come?

Girl: If you don't want to come, then I don't want you to come.

- a new type of paradox utilizing circular reference.
