Trip to the Fire Station!

Guess where we went last week?

...

...

...

Bukit Batok Fire Station!~!~!

I bet none of you have visited your local fire station righttt??

Actually, I had no idea they were open to the public to visit before this!

Yes, you heard it - all fire stations in Singapore are open to public visitors on Saturday mornings!

One of the freshies in my orientation group (Udon!!!) from JSS camp, Jamil is a fireman!

And that day was his last day of work, so we decided to visit him ~ ~ :D

Jamil + Me + DC !

This is the thing they'll use to pry you out from underneath a car if you ever get into an accident.

: /

Useful thing, but goddamn heavy!

This is said to be able to cut anything open lol!

This is called...The Rabbit's Foot!

It's used to render your house door useless while courageous firemen rush in to save your ass ~

Hoho, the coolest fireman vehicle ever existed!

The red rhino, or the LFAV (light fire attack vehicle)!~!~

Extremely heavy oxygen tanks ~ about 20 or 30kg =X

DC kept running around with it lol ~

Jamil demonstrating how to put on the oxygen mask~

More awesome firefighting vehicles!!!

Look! They even have a tank-like looking thing!

Look what this baby can do?!

It's stabilizing itself to support the weight the long ladder ~

Oh Daddy look, Wham BAM BAM!

The magnificent great white truck is mineeeee!

Time to put on firefighting gear!

This suit hasn't been washed in more than a year ~
(you aren't supposed to wash it often cus there's some heat protection stuff in it)

LOL!!

A picture while they prepare the highlight of our day!

Which requires several safety precautions...

And we're offfffff ! ~ ~ ~

Haha, we're riding the thing which firemen use to elevate themselves to fight fires!!

This baby goes up to 10 storeys! xD

They don't deploy this all the time, so go try your luck! ^^

~The view from the fire station control room~

Those are the shutters where fire engines rush out from!

They can actually control the traffic light so that they can reach their destination faster!

Lol, I always thought sliding down the pole was damn cool like in all those Hong Kong fireman shows! XD

Firefighting bike!

One last photo of us in the fire engine concluded the visit!

We noticed something rather creepy before we left... =S

We also received awesome souvenirs!

It's a DIY cardboard models of some of those firefighting vehicles we saw ~ ~

We'll post pictures when I finish doing them haha! :D

Graduation & Module Woes

~Work in Progress!~

So it's the time of the year again when Uni students scratch their heads and stay up all night to decide their modules. A few extreme ones will tear out their hair deciding between PH1102E Introduction to Philosophy (an obviously easier choice) and the very very tempting PH2213 Metaphysics.

This is when I will start counting all the modules I've taken, stopping for a while to emo at my C+ for MA1521 which I stupidly did not S/U, and calculate how many modules I need to take to graduate with an Honours degree in Information Systems and Double Major in Philosophy...

~after some brain cells killing maths...~

A Grand Total of 173 MCs!!!

That's the MINIMUM I need to graduate...

Including optional MCs I will be taking cus of Japanese/modules I've wasted when I changed course amounts to: 205 MCs! *bangs head*

Apparently, I need to take 7 modules per sem to graduate in 4 years or 6 modules per sem to graduate in 4.5 years. Win! ~

This coming semester will really test my juggling skills...6 modules + 8 tuitions per week + president duties + skipping 3 weeks of school for YOG duties.

頑張らなきゃ!

Goodbye leisure time ~

Goodbye anime ~

Goodbye guitar ~

Goodbye window shopping online ~

P/S, my student said he'll give me a present for Teachers' Day! Super happy! めちゃ嬉しい!

P/S, my junior from JSS camp is a Fireman and tmr DC and I are going to tour his firestation! :D

Short Hair Again...

I'm back from Japanese Studies Society camp! It was awesome. :)

Cut my hair a few days ago on impulse cos my hair was getting frizzy and out of hand, like a lion's mane.  -__- And it is such a pain to wash long hairrrrrrrr!

Now I'm deeply regretting it. Mehhh.

I forgot that my hair will curl 360 degrees in all directions at shoulder length. This sucks.

Grawr! Feel like doing something about it...like rebonding or whatever for painless straight hair... :(

~off to Mensa Singapore EOAGM~

YOG Training!

Had YOG training again today, so it's about time I posted the photos of the last YOG training! :D

Photo-intensive post ahead cus I really need to sleep NOW for Mensa Singapore's thingy at Ci Yuan Community Centre tomorrow. But no worries - all high quality and taken with DSLRs by professional photographers. ^^

YOG is coming to Singapore!!!

I'm assigned to ASIA ~ :D
*crosses heart and prays to be attached to the Japan National Olympic Committee (NOC)*

Started the day off with food, oh glorious food! ~~

Merly and Lyo was there to take pictures with everyone!

Yay, free photos!

Our emcee, Laura - super entertaining as usual. xD

Our "heads" introducing themselves ^^

Then performing for us :D
.

.

.

Next, it was time to "bond" ~

Some icebreakers first...

Getting to know each other ~ (Japanese alert! Kaoru-san and Nobuko-san on the left!)

Then, it was time for the main dish...and the task was for all of us, still strangers to become a band and perform a song in 1 hour ~~

Introducing our crazily enthu/happy/euphoric/hyper instructor...

This is what he looks like almost all the time ~~ Get what I mean?

Time for the real thing - the performance!

We're one big band ~ ~

I got to play the drums! :D:D (I was like...Me! me me!)

Sorta like my dream come true *grins*

Yay, new friends + colleagues + nakama (japanese for "comrades")!

Can't wait for YOG!!! :D
